Classic Chinese animations

For decades, Chinese animations like "Havoc in Heaven", "Nezha Conquers the Dragon King", "Lotus Lantern", and "Calabash Brothers" dominated the industry. With few breakthroughs in domestic animation, these 80s-90s classics remained the "pinnacle of Chinese animation".

In 2015, "Monkey King: Hero is Back" marked a turning point, grossing 957 million yuan and winning Best Art Film at the Golden Rooster Awards.
