How to Install the iTalkBB Home Phone with Router:

  • Plug one end of the cable into the "Internet" jack of the iTalkBB Home Phone Box and the other end into the Ethernet (LAN) socket on your home router.

  • Plug one end of your telephone line into the "Phone 1" jack of the iTalkBB Home Phone Box and the other end into your telephone.

  • Connect the iTalkBB Home Phone Box to a power source.

How to Install the iTalkBB Home Phone with Modem (Without Router):

  • Disconnect the original modem from the PC, plug one of the network cables into the "Internet" jack of the iTalkBB Home Phone Box, and another one to the Modem's "LAN" socket.

  • Connect one end of the cable to the "LAN" jack of the iTalkBB Home Phone Box and the other end to the computer's "Ethernet" jack.

  • Plug one end of the telephone line into the "Phone 1" jack of the iTalkBB Home Phone Box and the other end into your telephone.

  • Connect the iTalkBB Home Phone Box to a power source.

How to Transfer Your Home Phone Number

Two Ways to Transfer Your Home Phone Number:

While Your Home Phone Number is in the Process of Porting to iTalkBB, Please Note:

  • Your name, address and phone number have to be on the first page of your bill and have to be consistent with the Letter of Authorization

  • The name and address you submit for phone number transfer must be the same as the ones you provided to your current telephone company, i.e. Service Address. If you are not sure whether the name and/or address match, please contact your current company to confirm the CSR (Customer Service Record) information for your phone number. If the information you provide is inaccurate, your phone number transfer application will be rejected.

  • Please do not cancel your current home phone service during the transfer process. If you do, your number will be revoked by your current phone company and the transfer will fail.

  • After successfully transferring your telephone number, your current home phone services will be canceled automatically. You may double-check with your current telephone company beforehand to ensure the service will be canceled automatically after the transfer, or you may check with them after the transfer has been completed to confirm that your service with them has already been canceled.

Check Your Transfer/Port Request Status:

The transfer process will take about 2-6 weeks. We will keep you informed of the latest updates via email. You can also login to your online account or call 1-877-482-5503 to check the status of the transfer.

Successful Transfer:

Once your home phone number has been successfully transferred to iTalkBB, your previous home phone service will be canceled automatically.

Failed Transfer:

Most home phone numbers can be successfully transferred. However, users with bundled home phone and internet service plans cannot cancel only their home phone service while retaining their internet service. These users should confirm with their current home phone service provider whether their number can be transfered before beginning the transfer process.

Taiwan Access Number

iTalkBB Home Phone service provides each user with a Taiwan Access Number at no additoinal cost. Your friends and family in Taiwan only need to dial this phone number, then dial your 899 number to reach you.

Specifically, the method by which your friends and family in Taiwan can call you without having to pay any international call tolls is as follows: Dial 02-40660660 or 40502999, then dial your 899 number.

If your friends and family are in Taipei, they will pay the same rate as making a local call; if they are not in Taipei, they will need to pay Taiwan's toll charge.

Hong Kong and Taiwan Phone Numbers

In addition to a U.S. home phone number, iTalkBB Home Phone users can obtain a virtual Hong Kong and Taiwan local number. If your families and friends in these areas contact you using the virtual local phone number, they will not pay any international call tolls. How to Get a Virtual Local Number:

Fax

iTalkBB Home Phone provides you with a free domestic fax service.

To send a fax, press the # key + 1 + the fax number.

For non-Global Unlimited Plan users, the domestic fax service is free, but the minutes used by the fax service will be considered call minutes and will be charged at the same rate as domestic calls. For Global Unlimited Plan users, there are no additional fees.

Unlike a traditional telephone line, iTalkBB Home Phone service is connected over the internet. iTalkBB Home Phone service can be used wherever an internet service such as cable, DSL, or fiber is available.

How your 899 number works:

  • Your 899 number can be used as your User ID when logging into your online account. After logging into the account, you can view your bill, make online payments, view usage, add features, change plans, refer friends, manage service credits and update your account information at any time.

  • iTalkBB Home Phone provides you with a free in-network calling service through dialing 899 numbers. Every user can make free iTalkBB user-to-user calls by dialing each others' 899 numbers.

  • When you refer your friends and they sign up for iTalkBB Home Phone services, you can receive credits and rewards. How to Refer

To refer a friend, clickhere and enter your friend’s email address. iTalkBB will send them a sign-up email. If the person you refer signs up for iTalkBB's services through the email link and retains the service for over 30 days, both of you are eligible for rewards. How Referral Credits Work

Referral credits can be used to pay for your monthly service plan and any add-on features you choose. Login to your account, click “Rewards” in the menu bar at the top of the page, and navigate to the “Reward Management” page to redeem your credits.

How to Receive a Reward

The number of people you refer will be calculated each calendar month. Once the number of referrals meets the amount required by the program and they retain the service for over 30 days, we will begin processing your reward gift. It will take 15 business days to deliver from the date your reward request begins to process.

Call Troubleshooting

No Dial Tone

  • Please make sure your network is working.

  • Make sure your phone box is installed properly.

    The normal status is:

    > Power light, network light & Phone 1 light are on.

    > Phone 1 light flashes during the call, the network light flashes intermittently.

    > If the telephone box is not installed properly, please click here for installation troubleshooting.

Cannot Make or Receive Calls

  • Please make sure that your home phone is activated within 24 hours or you transfer your home phone number within 24 hours; iTalkBB Home Phone usually works immediately after activation or phone number transfer. In some cases however, it may take up to 24 hours before it starts working.

  • Make sure that your telephone line is connected to the "Phone 1" socket of the iTalkBB telephone box rather than the "Phone 2" socket.

  • If you have set up certain advanced features on your home phone, this may sometimes lead to problems with the phone. Please make sure the sound of the dial tone is normal: if you hear any abnormal tones, such as 3 short tones plus 1 long tone, please try canceling the following special features:

    > Cancel Call Forwarding: Pick up the phone and press * 73

    > Cancel Call Rejection: Pick up the phone and press * 79

    > Cancel Direct Access to Voicemail: Pick up the phone and press * 993

Can Receive Calls but Cannot Call Out

> Please make sure the phone number you are dialing is correct. When you make an international call, you need to dial in the format: 011 + country code + the phone number. Click how to dial for more information.

> Please make sure the iTalkBB Home Phone Box is working. You may try changing to a different telephone or reseting the iTalkBB Home Phone Box to determine whether the problem lies with the iTalkBB Home Phone Box itself.

Poor Audio Quality on Calls

> Please make sure your internet is working normally. If you can hear the other end of the call clearly, but they can't hear you, the poor audio quality may be a result of your network connection being overloaded. If you are downloading files or otherwise using heavy internet bandwidth while on a call, this might be the cause of the problem.

> If you hear "rust" or static noises, it may be due to the poor contact of your telephone receiver or telephone line. Try disconnecting each telephone/related equipment (answering machines, computer modems, FAX machines, satellite TVs, Web TVs, burglar alarms, etc.) one at a time from the telephone jack. If the noise stops when something is disconnected, the static is most likely associated with the last piece of equipment that was unplugged.

> If your phone is connected to other extensions and you have not disconnected the local service line set up by the previous telephone company, this might cause noise, echo, etc. with your iTalkBB service; Please disconnect the local service line set up by the previous telephone company before connecting any extensions.

> If you are using a cordless phone, please change to another frequency to check whether the call quality improves.

> If all of the above fails, please try restarting the iTalkBB telephone box.

Installation Problems

All the Indicator Lights are Off

  • The iTalkBB phone box is installed correctly when:

    > Power light, network light & Phone 1 light are on

    > Phone 1 light flashes during the call, the network light flashes intermittently

  • If all 3 lights are off, indicating that the box is not working, please check the power connection and try connecting the box to a different power outlet. If the power supply is available and connected, but the problem still occurs, there may be an equipment malfunction. Please contact us for help.

Only the Power Light is On

  • The iTalkBB Home Phone Box is installed correctly when the power light, network light & Phone 1 light are on; the Phone 1 light flashes during the call, and the network light flashes intermittently.

  • If only the power light is on, there is a problem with the connection. Please follow the steps below:

    > Check that the cable is connected correctly to the blue internet port on the iTalkBB Home Phone Box.

    > Make sure your home modem/router/network hub is working properly; please try different ports.

    > Make sure the network cable is working; try a different network cable to test whether the problem is with the cable itself.

The Power Light and the Network Light are on and the Phone 1 Light Flashes

The problem may be that the phone is not hanging up calls properly, or there may be a problem with the extensions. Please follow the steps below:

> Check that your telephone has hung up the previous call properly.

> Unplug the telephone line from the phone box to see whether the Phone 1 light remains on for a long time. If it does, the problem is with the phone line or extensions.

The Power Light, Network Light & Phone 1 Light are on, but the Phone Does Not Work

Please check whether the phone box is working by trying a different telephone or telephone line. If the Phone 1 light is still on but not flashing, there may be a problem with the phone box itself.

General Problems

Caller IDs are Not Displaying

> If some caller IDs are being displayed, but others are not, it may be due to those callers having selected to not show their caller ID information.

> If no caller ID is being displayed, please make sure your phone battery is serviceable.

> Please make sure that your caller ID function is on: pick up the phone and press * 65 to turn on the caller ID function; press * 85 to turn off the caller ID function.

Three-Way Calling Troubleshooting

> Make sure you are using the three-way calling function correctly. Instructions: Connect the first call, then press the Answer key or the Flash key. When you hear the dial tone, input the phone number of the third party to be added to the call. When you have connected to the third party, press the Answer key or the Flash key again to connect the three-way call.

> iTalkBB Home Phone only supports three-way calling for Mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan), the United States, Canada, Britain, Singapore, and Australia. Three-way calling does not work for any numbers besides those of the countries and regions listed above.

> If none of the above solutions work, please try restarting the iTalkBB Home Phone Box.

Fax Troubleshooting

> Please make sure the way you are dialing the fax is correct: press # 1 + the fax number of the recipient. If that does not work, try dialing 333 + 1 + the fax number of the recipient, or dial * + 99 + 1 + the fax number of the recipient.

> If you are using a cable network, connect the phone box directly to the modem or router and try again.

> Please try to change the fax speed to 9600 bps or less.

> Please turn off Error Correction Mode on your fax machine.
